#Dugo_Falafel St Andrews
Come together with Jews at St Andrews to enjoy free falafel together as a celebration of Jewish survival.
On January 18th 1945, Dugo Leitner found himself together with 60,000 Auschwitz prisoners on a death march. Hungry and freezing, dreaming of the hot fresh rolls, his mother used to make. It was this dream that kept him going for kilometers and enabled his survival.
Ever since, every Jan 18th Dugo eats Israel's national food, the falafel as a symbol of life, perseverance and a reminder that he will never go hungry.
In Israel "Operation Dugo" has become a widespread custom with 100s of people eating falafel, posting messages of #amyisraelchai in solidarity with Dugo and many other holocaust survivors. Here in st. Andrews over lunch.
