The Seder plate sits at the top of the table during the Seder and one of the elements it comprises is Charoset.

Charoset is a mixture of nuts, apples and wine that is used at points during the Seder, together with Maror.

We use Charoset to remember the clay and mortar that the Israelistes used in Egypt during their slavery.

Here's a simple recipe you can try this year

  • 2 cups chopped apples
  • 2 cups walnuts
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼-½ cup sweet wine

Add all the ingredients into a food processor and blend until a paste.

Or try this one!

  • 1/2 cup dried apricots
  • 8 dates
  • 2 apples
  • ½ cup walnuts, chopped
  • ½ cup almonds, chopped
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp allspice

Once again just add to a food processor, give it a blend and you are good to go!
